Bearings and rollers operate inside a larger mast or carriage system. For a steel-profile buyer, the useful sourcing question is how the profile geometry supports alignment, contact and movement—not a general list of every bearing used in a forklift.
Profile Features That Affect the Interface
- Roller-contact surface position
- Channel opening and flange geometry
- Straightness, twist and local deformation
- Surface condition on running areas
- Alignment of machined or welded connections
Define Critical Dimensions
The customer drawing should distinguish functional roller-path dimensions from general section dimensions. Tolerances must reflect the assembly and inspection method; a blanket “tight tolerance” statement is not sufficient.
Coordinate Profile and Roller Selection
Roller diameter, crown or contact geometry, bearing arrangement and mast section must be validated together by the forklift designer. The profile supplier should not claim compatibility without the mating-component data.
Inspection and Sample Approval
Dimensional reports should focus on agreed datums and functional surfaces. Samples need to be checked in the customer assembly before serial production is approved.
Information to Include in an RFQ
- 2D or 3D section drawing
- Steel grade and applicable standard
- Critical dimensions and tolerances
- Cut length and downstream processing
- Trial quantity, annual demand and destination
